The Common Man's Party

Congress... BJP... Congress... BJP... And so it goes on. Always a battle where we are left to cheer for the lesser evil. For some, they'll compromise on the economy for a pseudo secular nation. For some, their so called culture and Bharat sentiments hold higher than lives of many. Most of them believe in mere change of diapers, a nation like ours need to. Dynastic monarchy vs tyranny was all our democracy ever was. Though they were divided by principle, they were united by cause. United in keeping us blind and ignorant. Neither parties minded the other, because it was an alternating system they followed. Like Gandhari blindfolded herself to live with Dhritarashtra, so did we blindfold ourselves to live with the governance. They took advantage of our reluctance and ignorance. And then yesterday happened.

For the first time, the masses got a third alternative, untouched by the vulture or the wolves. A party that was and will never be a part of either predators. While most of the alternatives are a break away disagreeing to silly ideology with the same corrupt people, here was a party, formed from the scratch, by the common people who had no affiliation towards politics but a vision to change the nation. A party that was a reply to a challenge thrown to an aam aadmi on being criticised. It's time the two superpowers realize we aren't tennis balls that have to be hit back and forth a court.

Never before have I sat before the television or looked at the newspaper so enthusiastically over election results. My usual reaction is meh, whatever. Either ways the nation looked doomed. But yesterday things were different. My entire Facebook newsfeed was filled with praises of AAP. I was delighted with the results of Delhi election myself. There was finally some home. I'm not sure as to how far can AAP go, but they're surely a start to better governance. The nation doesn't really want to keep its Hindutva sentiments, neither does it really want to see its money go down the drain due to a never ending hierarchy. All we want is democracy - of the people, for the people and by the people.

Many volunteers joined Arvind Kejriwal in his mission to sweep off the unnecessary hand that holds the nation and the fallen petals of the lotus that glorify it. No regional or religious sentiments were even needed by AAP to win our hearts. No caste or no minority were given any privilege. AAP looks at men and women alike, without bothering about sexual orientation or theistic inclination. All AAP is ever bothered is about the betterment of the nation. No volunteer was turned down, nor any differentiation took place. Brotherhood was witnessed without even mentioning the need to have one.

For the first time in many years, it was the aam janta with a huge grin while the dear politicians were teary eyed. Finally a statement has been made and the aam aadmi has spoken through his vote.

She Is Just Not That Into You

A boy sees a girl at some party or some marriage or just on the road buying vegetables. Her eyes are mystical, her lips are red, her smile is radiant, and she carries herself gracefully like a dancer. He goes behind her and tries to impress her. Now she sees him and realises that someone is following her. She over-reacts and gets the guy beaten up, or gives him some ‘gaalis’. Her face has a permanent frown on seeing the hero goof up. Yet he keeps following her and they bump into each other again. It’s all ‘kismat ka khel’. After a while, the boy somehow breaks the ice and makes the heroine fall for him. All this while, the girl was just playing hard to get. She was also obviously into him because she just falls in love with random stalkers. Sounds familiar?

That pretty much sums up our romantic movies. The hero always gets the girl in the end. The girl needs him more than anything and just pretends that she is fine by her own. We keep talking about how these Yash-Raj movies give girls a false hope. We forget that it does more harm to the boys as well. Boys think it’s their duty to stalk the girl till she becomes his because that is what Shahrukh Khan does on big screen. So they follow her and keep pestering her to love them back. They have no idea what respecting other’s feeling is. In our patriarchal society, it is often the boys who must chase girls. It talks about their manliness. They assume that girls are just waiting about for a stalker like a damsel in distress. They just don’t get it that she genuinely doesn't like them and would want to be left in peace. The never-give-up attitude comes to play. Egos get crushed. And hence rises the phoenix of crime.

The boys have physical power and access to all the equipment they need. They believe that the girl they are chasing dares to smug them off. It now becomes a play of power. It becomes ‘yeh ladki meri nahi toh kisi ki nahi ho sakti.’ Some throw acid on the innocent girl’s face and life. Sometimes they resort to murder. Sometimes they stick their filthy dicks inside her vagina to teach her a lesson and show her place in the society. They make sure that the girl is ruined for rejecting them.

Ours is a patriarchal society where men think they can have whatever they want and get away with it. Women are still suppressed to great heights.   Our Bollywood movies don’t help either. It is considered that if a woman is raped, it compromises the honour of her father/brother/husband. The rapist definitely objectify her, but what is to say of such a society. Is she a trophy of honour to her family? Gangsters rape mothers, sisters, wives and daughters as a medium of revenge. Nobody actually cares about the abuse done to her body.

Religion plays a vital role in encouraging male dominance. Many religions encourage beating wives who are disobedient and rebellious. She is supposed to be answerable to ‘her man’. Women are nothing but properties of our father later on handed over to a husband. Since they do a ‘meherbani’ of taking care of the daughter, they demand lump sum amount in ‘dowry’. We cannot fight against sexual injustice until we learn not to objectify women and respect her feelings and right. If she doesn't want to marry you or do exactly as you say, you have to understand that she has her freedom to do so. That won’t make you any less a man, if it will; it will make you more of a human.

P.S. – A note to women, if a guy asks you out or proposes you, please don’t slap them. Politely reject them if you aren't interested. There is nothing wrong in harmless asking out and we must also learn to respect feelings.

To all my English speaking audience:
Gaalis - abusive words
kismat ka khel - game of luck
yeh ladki meri nahi toh kisi ki nahi ho sakti - If this girl doesn't become mine, she won't be anybody's
meherbani - favour

Those Mental Handcuffs

This blog may contain some matter inappropriate for totally unaware kids to read. And yes if anyone takes offense to this, i am not sorry for it.

The Delhi rape case, which occurred in the bus, created a sensation across the country.  Someone asked a girl to meet him at the marketplace in Delhi. She was abducted from there and raped. A bharatnatyam dance teacher in Navi Mumbai raped his student. A 4 year old girl was molested by a bus conductor. In Pune, a vice-principal molests a girl. The school authorities denied it, claiming that the girl had a flawed character and followed unethical practices like friendship with boys.

Every time I pick up the newspaper, this is all I read. Rapes, domestic violence, murdering one’s own family, are all I can see everywhere. Eve-teasing has become a common issue. Even the reporter who was put on the Delhi rape case faced eve-teasing. Parents have started talking like – I don’t feel like sending my daughter out of the house anymore. We are talking about a country who worships Saraswathi as the Goddess of knowledge, Lakshmi as the Goddess of wealth and Durga as the Shakti or divine energy; a country once known for respecting the integrity of women; a country I always considered myself lucky to be born in. But now I loathe the same motherland, as it has betrayed me.

In spite of the economic advancement and educational reforms, our mindset remains the same. Men think they have power over women and show their authority by penetrating them. The husband is still the ‘pati-parameshwar’, to whom, his woman bows down. Failing to do so, she is subjected to belts and canes. The bahu of the house gets maltreated if she is unable to bear the heir of the family. Working or not, women end up doing all the household work too, while her husband puts his feet up and enjoy some television.

I have girlfriends, whose parents want them to complete some basic degree, do a ‘nine to five’ job for some years and then get married. Some of the parents think it’s unnecessary for a girl to study too much. Many of them already train their daughters to go into their ‘sasural’. Meanwhile the sons are enjoying some beer, playing Skyrim or having a debate on who should be Chelsea’s next manager. I myself have been asked this question – Why do you want to study so much? Just find someone rich to marry instead.

Another surprise was when I learnt that someone I knew pretty well was asked for dowry. I honestly thought that the educated lot stopped this practice. She was from a well to do family with good values and sense. The bigger shock was when I heard that they were ready to pay it. The girl’s side was ready to pay for a grand ceremony as well, as the boy’s side demanded.

If a girl is raped, molested or gets involved in any affair, boys reject her later on. She is termed as impure, no matter how good is she from the heart. They want someone white, so that they can colour her with their own filthy hands. The skeletons in a boy’s closet are just a sign of his carefree youth. Boys always get a fourth chance, but often the first chance is snatched away from a girl. Our society is truly hypocritical.

Small girls are subjected to the bad touch by their uncles. These uncles are often the most respected ones in the family and they are consulted for all major decisions. If the girl utters a word against the monster, she is called a liar and someone who cannot ‘respect’ her elders. Honestly does this particular elder deserve any ‘respect’? The girl too is forced to attend family functions which she dreads. In all the chaos and negligence, the disgusting uncle takes a chance and gets too close to his beautiful little niece. She knows it’s wrong, but is left helpless. She doesn’t even know why it’s wrong and how to put it in words. She wouldn’t know how to frame it in a sentence.

The Pune case isn’t quite different. The girl’s character is blamed as she does ‘unethical practice like friendship with boys’. Have you heard anything more ridiculous? Recently, while I was spending some time with a close friend of mine who lacks the y-chromosome, I received those prying eyes. While my own parents had no problems, good Lord knows what they were concerned about! Forget the middle aged gossip group; even my own friends have this sick mentality. Some girls in our college are more likely to be seen around boys. Such girls are termed as desperate for attention or only interested in boys. Girls thinking so about other girls, it’s pathetic.

After all this, do you still call India a free country? Our laws are liberal but our mind isn’t. We women are still looked down on, that too by other women. No matter who does what, it’s our character and integrity that goes under a microscope. Many politicians have yet again proved their smartness by commenting on how women should get married early or stay at home only. No one talks about teaching the other sex to show some respect to women. Even parents don’t care what their sons do because their sins will be forgiven. The truth is, women don’t respect women, how do we expect men to? It’s time we stop judging and start showing some dignity.

DEVIL WORSHIP – The Other Side

Before you start reading it, my apologies if i happen to hurt any of your religious sentiments. This article is in noway intended to hurt anyone as I truly believe in the live and let live policy.

Iron Maiden, Cradle of Filth, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, Lady Gaga; the list goes on. Most of these bands or musicians have been associated with Devil Worship in some way.  Rumour has it that Lady Gaga and Beyonce are Diabolist. Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, along with many others from the 27 club sold their soul to the Devil and were hence taken at the pinnacle of their career at the age of 27. Many others being killed by the group of Illuminati who work for the Devil.
Are these really examples of Devil worship? Or a result of drug overdose, alcoholism, extravagant sex life and accidents.

To be honest, these musicians have nothing to with the Devil. These are rumours created by some jealous low self esteemed morons who couldn’t believe these musicians were talented.

Some of you must have heard of the ‘Black Metal Circle.’ They are a cult in Norway, known to have burned down Churches, play the music of evil, mess with graveyards and create blasphemy. They were known to be Satanist. The whole concept of Diabolism popularized from them. But however the truth in astonishingly different. The cult leader Euronymous confessed that he terrorized the people behind the mask of Satan to instill fear of God in people. So on the contrary, they worshipped good Lord himself.

Then what really is Devil Worship? Why would anyone in their right mind worship a force of evil? Sacrificing dear lives in the name of the Dark God, how does that make sense? Has it ever occurred to you that Devil worshipers have a genuine reason to worship? How did this Devil Worship really start at the first place?
In the Middle Age, the Church and the kings tried their best to replace all religions with Christianity. When some of the public refused to believe in the so-called Word of God and continued to follow their former religion, the priests decided to use the wrong means. They labeled all other religions as Devil worship. This is how Paganism got a negative name. Why, even Hindus was termed as Diabolist. Out of fear, many accepted the Bible.

The priests also saw Science as a threat to religion. They believed great minds like Galileo, Isaac Newton, Leonardo Da Vinci were also Satanist. (Science students might agree on this one because they torture us with their theorems and laws. But that’s another issue now.) Women were expected to be submissive to their husbands. The feminists were termed as witches and burned down. Gays and transgenders were considered as the followers of evil too. The preists even put atheists and agnostics under that category. In short, whatever was not Christian was a Diabolist.
Though none of these were actual Satanist, they have a similar mentality. Devil worshippers are great believers of freedom. They have an open approach to life. They don’t believe in Heaven or Hell, they make the place they live in one. They believe in equality and the ‘live and let live’ policy. The God they worship is just a fallen defeated hero.

In Egyptian mythology, Horus was the God of sky and day. His twin Set was the God of night, thunderstorm and desert. Certain sects worshipped the former, certain latter. When these sects broke into a war, the former sect won. This is how Set came to be known as a Devil.

Set was simply the God of darkness. During ancient time, most people feared the dark. Simple reason being the lack of light. Besides carnivores wandered about and made a meal of their cattle and children. Night is more vulnerable to flu. Hence it was considered the Devil’s time.

At some point of time, you must have heard of Lilith, better known as the Devil’s bride. She is said to wander at night and molest innocent(not really) men. She is often associated with fertility and child birth evil. She is believed to have sex for pure pleasure. This is what everyone believes. However Devil worshippers have a different tale to tell.

Lilith was created alongside Adam. He always dominated and believed that she must surrender to him. That did not go well with Lilith and she left him. She stood up for what she believed in and demanded equality. This is the reason why Devil worshippers adore her. She did not fear the convectional beliefs of Adam. However she was banished into the underworld for the same.

Devil worshippers follow such misunderstood heroes. They believe in ideas shunned by normal humans. They don’t pray to the evil, they just pray to something different. There are heartless creatures who sacrifice children and animals in the name of Devil. But so have the ones who follow the whiter Lord. You cannot deny that no wars have been fought in the name of religion. Hitler punished innocent simply because they were Jews. The 26/11 encounter in Mumbai, where terrorists like Kasab attacked us in the name of Jihaad. Kasab boasted proudly that he didn’t regret taking away so many lives. The middle age priests burned down innocent women calling them witch. Hasn’t all this happened in the name of God, not Devil. The world wars were fought by people who followed God. Are you to tell me that only Devil worshippers sacrifice then I have news for you. More hearts have bled in the name of God.

Diabolists are just ordinary humans like us. They also enjoy ordering a pizza on a movie night. They are more worried about who will win El Classico* than killing sheep.  They just try to understand the losing side rather than believing that the winning side are the best.

I am not encouraging you to start off with Satanism. If it were upto me, I would abolish all religion. Neither am I blaming Christianity or any other religion here. All religions were started with a purpose of giving us hope and something to believe in. It’s the people who have corrupted them. I just want you to understand the other side of the story. Just open your eyes and arms to differences. See the world from another pair of eyes. And stop carrying that black and white label with you wherever you go.

http://theisticsatanism.com  - For a good incite on Devil Worship from someone who follows it.

*El Classico – seriously watch some football. These are matches played between Barcelona and Real Madrid, the biggest Spanish club rivals.
